Amed
Amed is a 14-km strip of fishing villages in Abang District, Karangasem Regency on the east coast of Bali, Indonesia. The area name Amed is taken from one of its seven villages. The other six are called Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah, Selang, Banyuning and Aas.
Attractive black sandy beaches, the dramatic view of Mount Agung Volcano, and tons of outdoor activity options make Amed a famous destination for those who prefer to stay away from the crowd and enjoy Indonesia’s natural beauty. The area’s attractions are numerous not only above, but also under the sea as the region is famous for its easily accessible coral reefs and rich marine life.
Amed is arguably the best place to snorkel in the whole of Bali. From shallow hard coral reefs to a shipwreck right off the beach, snorkeling in Amed is magic.
For the best snorkeling you should go to Jemeluk or the Japanese shipwreck.
